The Volume 97 Lead Piece, a study of how the Supreme Court treats business interests by distinguished legal scholars Lee Epstein, William M. Landes, and Richard A. Posner, was profiled in the May 5, 2013 edition of the New York Times. The story, titled Corporations Find a Friend in the Supreme Court, details the study’s finding: since 1946, of the ten Supreme Court justices most likely to favor business interests, five are the conservative members of the current Roberts Court. The study finds that the Chief Justice and Justice Samuel Alito are the two most likely justices to favor business interests.

The article is available online or on the front page of the Business section of the May 5 edition of the New York Times.

Leading academics and practicing attorneys from across the country spoke to a packed audience at the University of Minnesota Law School on Oct. 26, 2012 to discuss direct democracy. The symposium featured three panels and a lunchtime speech by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. Video of the symposium will be available shortly and the panelists’ articles will be published online and in print in Issue 5 of the Minnesota Law Review. The Law Review would like to thank everyone who attended the event.
